Dental Implants

Dentist in Hawthorne, NJ

According to the American Dental Association, more than 20 million people in the United States are missing all of their natural teeth, and more than 100 million are missing from 11 to 15 teeth. In 1997, dental professionals performed more than 500,000 dental implant procedures worldwide.

Dental Implants offer a permanent solution to missing teeth.  If you want to fill in the missing tooth gap with a naturally beautiful solution, a dental implant is the best option. A dental implant is composed of a small titanium screw or cylinder, surgically placed in the upper or lower jawbone. The implant replaces the root of the missing tooth, providing an anchor for your new tooth/teeth. Many patients choose dental implants over other procedures, because they result in a natural appearance which is permanent.

Our NJ Dentist: Dr. Abenaim – Implant Specialist

The implant team usually includes either a dentist, periodontist or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who implants the posts into the patient’s mouth, and a prosthodontist who designs and fits the replacement teeth or permanent bridge. At the first appointment in our New Jersey office, we use an X-ray to determine if the jawbone is adequate to hold the titanium posts. Models of the mouth are often made using a soft, pliable plastic compound. These models show our dentist where the gaps are located and provide measurements for a replacement tooth or a bridge. Treatment with dental implants is complicated and takes pain-staking planning for best results.

Today, the implants being placed often only require one surgical procedure using a local anesthetic and sedative.

Missing Teeth and Insert Options

The American Academy of Implant Dentistry has estimated that 69% of Americans age 35-44 have at least one tooth missing. With the advancement in technology in the dentistry field, your dentist will be able to show you your mouth and tooth layout via CAD/CAM dentistry. Depending on your health and the quality of your bone (bone density), the tooth replacement can be from just one day to 4-6 months. Surgical procedures and techniques have advanced such that patient comfort is increased pre and post operations.

Dentist and Oral Surgeon Fees, Experience and Ratings

Dr. Abenaim is a Board-Certified Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. His skill and additional education, allows him to help patients streamline dental care by providing everything in house within the Hawthorne New Jersey office. Traditionally, oral surgeons would work with dentists for patients requiring implants. The dentist would be responsible for the patient care before and after the surgeon. Dr. Abenaim is able to provide a single – dentist service, allowing the patient to have one point of contact as well as a lower overall fee (compared to separate surgeon and dentist fees).

Inexperienced dentists spend more time to plan and place the implant and may outsource the crown. This increases the wait time and may increase the fees to the patient. Dr. Abenaim explains, “It’s probably easier for the patient to sit through an implant procedure than a crown procedure. The pain is almost always virtually non-existent.” At his Hawthorne NJ office, you can schedule a consultation for more information. We offer a Complimentary Consultation for any insertions.

You can also opt for a 3D scan of your jaw bone at reduced fee (50% off). 3D scans are better than regular X-rays; X-rays do not show enough dimensions for this type of dental work. This will allow our local New Jersey dentists to determine whether or not you are a viable candidate for a dental implant procedure. We also offer alternatives to multiple implants, such as denture stabilization.
