Same Day Porcelain Crowns

Dentist in Hawthorne, NJ

A crown is a prosthetic positioned over a tooth to create a smoother look and enhance strength and durability.

When a tooth is cracked, has an old filling, or is severely decayed, the placement of a crown is often recommended. Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and can improve the appearance of your smile. Types of crowns include the full porcelain crown (ideal for use on the front teeth), the porcelain-fused-to-metal crown and the all-metal crown (ideal for use on the back teeth).

Dr. Abenaim is proud to have been trained by some of the world’s leading experts in the fabrication of dental crowns using the CEREC system.

Why patients are choosing CEREC?

CEREC by Sirona Dental Systems is a technological advancement in dentistry that allows dentists to fabricate a ceramic crown while you wait. Previously, patients would need to make two appointments, one for the preparation, and then another one two weeks later after a porcelain crown is finished.  With CEREC, you can be in and out in a single visit with a permanent crown! For you, the patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling, and less time out of your hectic schedule for dental care.

Crown Replacements within One Day

Porcelain Type Crowns:

  • Temporary crown restoration, fitting.
  • Two weeks later, anesthesia, tooth preparation/ drilling, and a fitting of the porcelain crown.

Ceramic material, unlike gold or amalgam crowns, closely mach the composition of a natural tooth.  The material expands and contracts at the same rate as your tooth, which helps to minimize cracks where food can get stuck / tooth decay.  The chemical bonding of your crown to your tooth also helps to strengthen your tooth, letting you safely bite into those hard food items.
